The 1199SEIU Training and Employment Funds, in partnership with CUNY's Lehman College, has created a program for foreign-educated registered nurses who want to prepare for the NCLEX licensing examination and gain clinical proficiency in New York State nursing practices.

Benefits
This program is designed for individuals who are the equivalent of Registered Nurses in their country of origin, and who want to practice nursing in New York State.

The program provides nursing education for foreign-educated nurses who are currently working out of title in 1199SEIU institutions. Given the critical nursing shortage in New York state, especially for bilingual nurses, foreign-trained nurses can use the skills and knowledge they have already achieved to become a Registered Nurse in New York State.

The program also seeks to improve the socio-economic conditions for these 1199SEIU immigrant professionals. After completing a the Foreign Trained Nurse program and passing the NCLEX, graduates of the program can earn an approximate starting salary of $63,000 per year, plus overtime.

Qualifying candidates will be accepted into the program that prepares them for work as a Registered Nurse.
