You can now access Teladoc, a service that connects you with a doctor by phone or online video 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
As Chief Medical Officer, I am always working to develop strategies that help keep you healthy. So I am pleased to announce your Benefit Fund’s new partnership with Teladoc, a service that connects you with a doctor by phone or videoconference 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This service, which launched May 1, 2017, gives you the opportunity to talk with a doctor when your own primary care physician isn’t available. Without leaving your home, you can speak to a Teladoc doctor, who can diagnose your illness or injury and prescribe medication, if necessary.
Teladoc is not meant to handle emergency medical conditions, such as broken bones or severe pain. But if you or your child has a non-emergency ailment, such as allergy or cold symptoms, or develops a fever or rash, you can call Teladoc from the comfort of your own home and get the answers you need fast.
Of course, Teladoc isn’t meant to replace the care of your own primary care physician. After your Teladoc “visit,” you should follow up with your doctor to so he or she can examine you and make sure that you don’t need any further treatment.
