Nearly 400 New York City League nursing home staff, residents, families, advocates, regulators and legislative representatives joined together on December 16th to share strategies on how to strengthen the delivery of long-term care at the 10th Quality Care Committee (QCC) Conference.
The conference, entitled “The Future of Long-Term Care… Developing the Knowledge Workers of Tomorrow” offered attendees workshops on infection prevention, performance improvement and “skills” workshops, which focused on how to run effective meetings and overcome organizational resistance.
Highlights of this event included a morning address by Richard Healion, Regional Office Director of the New York State Department of Health and an excerpt from “The Big Uneasy” – a documentary about the staff of Louisiana’s nursing homes who brought thousands of residents safely through Hurricane Katrina.
