13th Annual 1199SEIU/Employer Child Care Corporation Care for Kids Gala
The Future Is Not Light Years Away. It’s Now!
In December, more than 270 guests attended the 13th annual Care for Kids Gala, hosted by the 1199SEIU/Employer Child Care Corporation (CCC) at The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers in Manhattan. The event’s theme, The Future Is Not Light Years Away. It’s Now! reflected the CCC’s commitment to invest in the lives of children and working families, and help them shape bright futures.
“The Care for Kids Gala is an opportunity to highlight the incredible accomplishments and life-changing work of individuals committed to making a positive difference in our society,” said CCC President Vivian Fox.
The event was chaired by Jeff Cohen, System Vice President of Labor Relations and Human Resources in The Mount Sinai Health System. In addition to hosting distinguished guests and community members, the event honored George Ofori-Amanfo, MD, FACC; 1199SEIU Benefit and Pension Funds Executive Director Mitra Behroozi, JD; and Dr. Marcella Maxwell for their work in the greater CCC community and for supporting our mission to provide needed resources and care to our members and their families.
Student speaker and former WorkForce2000 program participant Kidane Bowen, Jr., shared highlights from his time in the program and spoke of the impact CCC programs have in shaping bright academic and professional futures for all participants.
Thank you to all who attended the event and those who continue to champion the work of the CCC. Due to the impact of COVID-19, we have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Care for Kids Gala. We look forward to seeing you in 2021!
