Holiday Sleep-Away Programs Suspended Due to COVID-19
After a successful winter 2020 session in which 95 children participated in the Holiday Sleep-Away Program (HSAP) and 67 teens participated in the teen program (T-HSAP), our providers were forced to cancel the spring session to adhere to COVID-19 safety and distancing guidelines. As the programs also help offset our members’ child-care needs, the Funds provided stipends to help members find alternative care options.
Both programs, which provide camp experiences for kids and teens in upstate New York during their winter and spring school breaks, allow campers to explore interests like arts and crafts, music, STEM learning and nature exploration, while building friendships and strengthening their personal development skills.
The Funds will continue to work with our providers, monitor New York State guidance and look forward to resuming the HSAP programs as soon as it is safe to do so. Given current Department of Health limitations, both Holiday Sleep-Away Programs are suspended through 2021, but we do hope to bring them back in the future.
