National Benefit Fund's Telehealth Benefit Shows Steady Uptake in First Year
Since the National Benefit Fund (NBF) first introduced Teladoc as a medical benefit in May 2017, the number of 1199SEIU members who have used the telehealth service has steadily increased. To date, 3,270 of your 1199SEIU employees and members have registered with Teladoc in order to access care when their doctor is unavailable. Through Teladoc, patients can speak with a licensed physician by phone or video from the comfort of home, rather than visit a more costly and time-consuming emergency room or urgent care center. On May 1, 2018, the NBF expanded the Teladoc benefit to include mental and behavioral health services, and many 1199SEIU employees and members have accessed the benefit in the month it has been available.
