National Benefit Fund Improves Members' Access to Mental Health Care
Since May 2018, when the National Benefit Fund (NBF) added behavioral health to its telehealth benefit, administered by Teladoc, the number of your 1199SEIU employees and members using the benefit has risen steadily, nearing 1,400 visits since the benefit was introduced. Of those treated, 38 percent said they would have not sought any treatment if Teladoc were not available. Members and their eligible dependents who are struggling with stress, family or relationship issues, or other mental health challenges, can use Teladoc to speak confidentially with a licensed therapist, counselor, psychologist or psychiatrist by phone, web or mobile app.

The NBF informs your 1199SEIU employees and members about the Teladoc benefit through numerous channels, including direct mail, Facebook postings, website updates and the quarterly member magazine, For Your Benefit. For more information, visiwww.1199SEIUFunds.org/Teladoc.
Training and Upgrading Fund Launches Tuition Assistance Online Workshop
The 1199SEIU League Training and Upgrading Fund (TUF) in April launched the Tuition Assistance for Degree Programs Online Workshop, its first in-house, fully online program on the digital workforce development platform HWapps. The one-hour workshop provides members not only with an overview of their education benefits but also with information on ways they can further their careers through higher education. Topics covered in the workshop include enrolling in undergraduate and graduate degree programs, identifying potential growth professions, managing work-life-school balance and accessing tuition assistance benefits. This workshop is part of TUF's ongoing efforts to provide members with programs that can be accessed remotely and will help prepare them for careers that meet the needs of an evolving healthcare industry.

Child Care Fund Sleep-Away Camps Support Working Families During School Breaks
In February and April, hundreds of 1199SEIU members' children took part in the 1199SEIU/Employer Child Care Funds' Holiday Sleep-Away Programs, which provide camp opportunities during the New York City school system's mid-winter and spring breaks. Participating camps offer a variety of activities, including indoor and outdoor sports, dance, music, photography and computer classes. A total of 59 children attended the Teen Holiday Sleep-Away Program, which serves children ages 13 to 17, at the French Woods Sports and Arts Center in Hancock, New York, in February, and 45 children attended in April. During the February break, 86 children ages 8 to 12 took part in the Holiday Sleep-Away Program at the Fresh Air Fund's Camp Mariah in Fishkill, New York, while 82 attended the program in April.

Addressing the needs of both children and their working parents, sleep-away camps promote children's independence, confidence and social skills by helping them learn to work with others, make decisions and explore new ideas and activities in a safe environment. The camps that participate in the Holiday Sleep-Away Programs are accredited by the American Camp Association.
