The GNYBF Is Your Partner for Worksite Wellness Events
The Greater New York Benefit Fund (GNYBF) has learned that some facilities have hosted onsite health and wellness screenings or events promoted by third-party vendors as "free" to your 1199SEIU employees and members. However, the GNYBF has not in any way sanctioned or approved these events, and these vendors are submitting claims to the Fund that are not covered by the plan. The GNYBF will not pay any claims associated with services provided at these events, and your 1199SEIU employees and members may be financially responsible for them. If any such event is scheduled at your facility, please cancel it immediately and do not schedule any other event with such vendors.

If your facility wishes to host an onsite health and wellness event, the GNYBF offers a Wellness Member Assistance Program, at no cost to your 1199SEIU employees and members, that provides health fairs, preventive screenings and worksite wellness programs. To schedule a GNYBF-sanctioned event at your facility, please contact your Outreach Coordinator, or the GNYBF Wellness Member Assistance Program at (646) 473-6900. Otherwise, please direct your 1199SEIU employees and members to their primary care provider for preventive screenings.

Greater New York Education Fund Catalog Details Education and Career Opportunities
The 1199SEIU Greater New York Education Fund (GNYEF) recently released the third edition of its Education and Career Catalog, to help your 1199SEIU employees and members identify academic and training opportunities that will assist them with their professional growth. The catalog provides an overview of the many programs available to them, including educational and career counseling services, pre-college programs, tuition assistance and more. It also includes information about high-demand healthcare professions and the training needed to qualify for positions in those fields. Your 1199SEIU employees and members may download a copy of the catalog. For more information about GNYEF, please visit our website.
Child Care Funds' Holiday Sleep-Away Camp Open Houses Were a Success
On Saturday, January 11, and Thursday, January 16, the 1199SEIU/Employer Child Care Funds (CCF) held open houses at the National Benefit Fund Headquarters for its Holiday Sleep-Away Camps at the Fresh Air Fund's Camp Mariah in Fishkill, New York, and at the French Woods Sports and Arts Center in Hancock, New York. A total of nearly 100 people, including 52 families, attended the open houses for the two camps. At each event, camp staff gave presentations and answered questions about their programs, while Anne Shore Camp program staff assisted attendees in completing their camp enrollment forms.

The Holiday Sleep-Away Camps provide children with a fun and educational experience while they are on school breaks and parents need child care. The Fresh Air Fund's Camp Mariah is for eligible children ages 8 to 12, with activities that include sports, arts and crafts, nature exploration, science and technology, engineering and mathematics. The French Woods Sports and Arts Center, which is for eligible children ages 13 to 17, offers activities centered on sports, technology and the performing arts. The winter sessions for both camps run from February 17 to February 21, while the spring sessions will be held from April 13 to April 17. For more information, please email [email protected], or call (212) 564-2220, extension 3460.
