The National Benefit Fund Expands Telehealth Services During COVID-19 Pandemic
The 1199SEIU National Benefit Fund (NBF) is temporarily covering telehealth services for your 1199SEIU employees and members to help them protect their health during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to Teladoc, the NBF will cover phone and video consultations for medical and mental health services, including coronavirus-related services, offered by any participating psychologist, social worker or psychiatrist in the NBF provider network. These virtual visits will allow your employees and members to avoid transportation and crowded waiting rooms while receiving the care they need, as well as complying with CDC guidelines to maintain social distancing. They may visit www.1199SEIUBenefits.org to find a participating provider.
Training and Employment Funds Assist Retired Healthcare Workers Returning to Workplace
In response to New York Governor Andrew Cuomo's plea for retired healthcare workers to return to the workforce, the Pension Funds Trustees voted to temporarily waive the 40-hour-per-month work limit, which allows 1199SEIU pensioners to return to institutions that have a memorandum of agreement with the Union, and fill key healthcare roles. Retirees who are interested and able to work can apply by visiting the 1199SEIU Training and Employment Fund's Employment Center (EC) website and completing an online application. Employers who have worked with the EC/1199SEIU League Job Security Fund in the past should contact the recruiter with whom they typically work. Employers who do not have a current EC contact can email [email protected], list their name and phone number, specify if an institution or facility, list the types of workers needed, and the EC will respond within 24 hours. The Employment Center is following an expedited procedure to refer workers.
Child Care Funds Help Identify Alternative Child-care Options
In an abundance of caution due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the 1199SEIU Child Care Funds (CCF) have canceled or postponed all in-person events and activities. If your 1199SEIU employees and members need information on alternative child-care options during this time, please encourage them to visit CCF's website. If they need additional assistance, they may call (212) 564-2220 and leave a message, and a CCF staff member will return the call as soon as possible.
