More GNY Members Access Telehealth Benefits in COVID-19 Pandemic
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Greater New York Benefit Fund (GNYBF) has expanded telehealth services for your 1199SEIU employees and members so they can avoid transportation and crowded waiting rooms while receiving the care they need, as well as comply with CDC guidelines to maintain social distancing. In addition to their Teladoc benefit, members can now speak with any participating provider in the GNYBF network offering telehealth services during the crisis. They may also access mental health and emotional support from any psychologist, social worker or psychiatrist in the GNYBF provider network. So far this year, your 1199SEIU employees and members have accessed these services from participating providers 60,367 times and visited Teladoc 6,118 times. For more information, please direct your 1199SEIU employees and members to visit www.1199SEIUBenefits.org/covid-19-resources.

Greater New York Education Fund Offers Online CNA Training
The Greater New York Education Fund (GNYEF) is offering your 1199SEIU employees and members an online program to become a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA). While the healthcare system has always faced a shortage of CNAs, the demand has increased significantly during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in long-term-care settings, where most of the CNAs will be employed following certification. A group of trainees began the online program in April and will complete it in mid-June. Participants receive 90 hours of training using an online learning system, along with live, facilitated discussions and lectures 9 hours per week. The GNYEF has been providing extensive case management to all trainees to help them adapt to online training models. For more information, your 1199SEIU employees and members can contact Samir Fayyaz at [email protected], or (646) 660-0029.
