The Funds Move All Workshops Online due to COVID-19 Pandemic
When the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of many in-person events, the Funds moved all in-person workshops to online formats to allow your 1199SEIU employees and members to continue accessing Fund resources. Between April and June, 1,937 members registered for the Funds' "Take Charge of Your Finances" spring series of financial wellness courses, while more than 500 members signed up for June and July wellness workshops and pension benefit information sessions. In addition, the Funds have archived the webinars and workshops on their website, and have scheduled all remaining workshops for the year to be held online, pending any further developments. For more information, your employees and members may visit the Funds' website.
Greater New York Education Fund Offers "Grief and Loss" Webinar
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 1199SEIU Greater New York Education Fund is offering your 1199SEIU employees and members a "Grief and Loss" webinar that will explain the differences between grief and loss, and how healthcare workers may use the "7 Stages of Grief" model as a coping tool. Participants will learn about chronic sorrow and compassion fatigue, and the impact that both can have on caregivers, as well as how they can continue to do their work after experiencing loss. The webinar will also offer additional community resources, while a peer-to-peer support group is being developed to provide ongoing assistance. To register, your employees and members may visit the webinar's webpage or email Natasha Herring at [email protected].
