National Benefit Fund's Dependent Eligibility Verification Program Nears Completion
The 1199SEIU National Benefit Fund (NBF) is concluding its latest Dependent Eligibility Verification Program, conducted by HMS Employer Solutions, a firm that specializes in healthcare eligibility verification. Like the spousal eligibility verification program performed in 2018, this program verifies the marital status of the spouses of 1199SEIU members and retirees, as well as their Coordination of Benefits information, to protect benefit dollars and help ensure that 1199SEIU members and their eligible spouses continue to receive quality healthcare coverage. If your 1199SEIU employees and members have questions about the program, they may contact HMS at (866) 252-0527 to avoid any interruption in their spouses' coverage.
Training and Employment Funds Programs Serve Members Online During Pandemic
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 1199SEIU Training and Employment Funds (TEF) moved their foundational programs, including Citizenship, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), High School Completion, Prep Academy, Spanish, Digital Literacy and Tutoring, to remote formats for the Fall 2020 semester. To help ensure maximum participation and quality instruction in these programs, TEF surveyed all program students during the summer on their ability to access such remote learning tools as computers, tablets and smartphones; their familiarity with meeting platforms and apps; and their Internet access. To date, more than 1,500 of your 1199SEIU employees and members have been participating in 125 different classes via Zoom. All 1199SEIU bargaining unit members are eligible to sign up for these programs after just one day of work with a contributing employer. For more information or to register, members may email [email protected].
Child Care Corporation Addresses Pandemic Protocols in Online Anne Shore Sleep-Away Camp Seminar
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to cast uncertainty on Summer 2021 camp activities, the 1199SEIU Child Care Corporation (CCC) will hold an online Anne Shore Sleep-Away Camp Parent Seminar on Wednesday, November 4, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. For the first time, a representative from the American Camp Association will join CCC staff to share knowledge and positive experiences from providers who were able to operate this past summer. The seminar will also address what plans camps are making to operate safely next summer, including potentially shifting dates, limiting occupancy and implementing public health measures.

The popular Anne Shore camp program provides children ages 9 to 15 of your 1199SEIU employees and members with the opportunity to attend two, three or four weeks of sleep-away camp, where they explore the arts, outdoor adventure, sports, technology and more. For additional information or to sign up, members can email [email protected].
