Open Enrollment for Spousal Health Coverage Begins January 1
The open enrollment period for your 1199SEIU employees and members to sign up their spouses for the Greater New York Benefit Fund health plan runs from January 1 through January 31, for coverage beginning March 1, 2021. To enroll a spouse, members must submit a completed Spouse Coverage and Payroll Deduction Authorization Form to their employer by February 1, authorizing premium deductions from their paycheck. Your 1199SEIU employees and members and their dependent children up to age 26 are still eligible for coverage, with no premium, whether or not their spouse is enrolled. Members may find the enrollment form at www.1199SEIUBenefits.org, and may call the Member Services Department at (646) 473-9200 with any questions.
2021 Funds Calendar Honors Healthcare Heroes
The Funds will soon release their 2021 Celebrating Our Healthcare Heroes calendar. This year, the Funds' calendar pays tribute to your 1199SEIU employees and members serving on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic, for their tireless work in caring for their residents. In addition to Trustees and delegates, the Funds are mailing the calendar to members who attended wellness workshops in early 2020 and participated in online wellness programs. Members may request a calendar by emailing the Funds' Wellness Department at [email protected].
Training and Employment Funds Help Members Online During COVID-19 Pandemic
The Training and Employment Funds (TEF) continue to assist your 1199SEIU employees and members with their education and training needs during the COVID-19 pandemic. TEF helps ease the financial strains of returning to school and provides career and academic guidance, which can be accessed remotely. TEF is also offering extended support and advisory services to your employees and members who may be reluctant to return to school during the pandemic or are having difficulty accessing services online. For further information or to begin accessing training benefits, members can speak with a career or academic counselor by calling (212) 284-9210 or emailing [email protected].
Child Care Fund Provides Emergency Financial Relief and Child-care Referrals
In response to child-care challenges facing front-line healthcare workers during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the 1199SEIU/Greater New York Child Care Fund (CCF) is providing your 1199SEIU employees and members with financial and other support. Thanks to generous donations from various funders, CCF was able to create an emergency financial assistance program. Members who are experiencing hardship can apply for aid and/or receive help in finding a child-care provider by completing the Emergency Child-care Relief Application. For more information, members can e-mail PSU_CCR&[email protected].
