Welcome to the Healthy Living Resource Center!

We’ve created this hub with a wealth of information, tips and resources for staying in good health. The offerings are divided into the following sections to help you navigate the path to continued wellness: Healthy Minds, Healthy Eating, Healthy Bodies, Healthy Hearts and Healthy Provider Relationships. Please take a moment to explore them.

Why are we offering this? Every day, you – our 1199SEIU members – show how giving you are. So much of your attention is focused on taking care of others, but the best way you can be there for others is to be there for yourselves too.

Our job at the Benefit Funds is to provide you with the benefits and resources you need to take good care of yourselves so that you can live long and healthy lives. And we’re always looking for ways to take that to the next level.

We listen to you, and you’ve let us know that good health is important to you, even when life gets in the way.

So, please check this hub frequently for useful facts, event listings, recipes, videos and classes to keep you moving, health-screening tools, links to relevant benefits and more.

It includes the information you need to take care of your bodies, eat well and build better relationships with your healthcare providers.

It’s our way of helping make sure you have the tools you need to thrive and live your best lives, with healthy minds and hearts.

Our relationship with you is important too. So, please use the feedback form to let us know what you’d like to see in the Healthy Living Resource Center.

And now, take a few moments to explore the resources on our site.

Consider it “me” time. You deserve it.

You are your own best advocate when it comes to your health. Your doctor and other healthcare providers are your partners. Make your voice heard and share your experiences with them.

Karinn Glover, MD, MPH

Attending Psychiatrist, Adult Outpatient Psychiatry Division, Montefiore Health System

There are multiple ways to address well-being. Having a good laugh, eating good meals that include vegetables and fruits, spending time in nature, and forms of exercise like dancing are all very important. Group therapy, individual psychotherapy, and in certain cases, medication, can play a vital role in maintaining well-being, too.

Richard Park, MD

CEO,
Rendr Care

We can’t wait for someone to solve problems in our communities. We have to fix it. Let’s do it ourselves. It takes self-responsibility and advocacy.

Debbie Salas-Lopez, MD, MPH

Senior Vice President,
Community and Population Health at Northwell

Our communities have the most disparities, including access to healthcare, prevalence of chronic conditions, and high unmet social needs. That’s what many of our essential workers have to deal with every day. Listening, understanding, and creating partnership opportunities to address health and healthcare disparities will be our imperative.
