After successfully completing accredited college courses, the Tuition Assistance Reimbursement Program reimburses you for pre-approved tuition costs. A maximum of six credits per semester may be reimbursed. Courses that satisfy program requirements leading to an undergraduate or graduate degree are eligible for tuition reimbursement. Non-credit courses are not eligible for reimbursement.
Benefit Change for Non-CUNY/SUNY Schools
Please note that, for courses beginning after January 1, 2016, the maximum reimbursable amount of Fund-approved fees for students attending non-CUNY/SUNY schools is now $135 per semester. This cap applies only to fees, not to the amount of your tuition reimbursement. This benefit change applies to all Tuition Assistance participants in New York City, Long Island and the Hudson Valley area.
Before enrolling in any program, you must discuss your plans with one of our counselors to ensure your program is approved for reimbursement. Some non-healthcare majors are not reimbursed under this benefit. Additionally, reimbursement rates vary depending on program, school and degree level. In general, programs that advance your career with your employer or are in a healthcare-related field are approved.
If you are a first-time applicant for degree tuition reimbursement, you must come into a Training and Employment Fund office for pre-approval prior to the start of your class. We also advise you to review the program you are interested in prior to enrolling to ensure that the program is eligible.
