Job Security
Fraud Alert
We recently discovered that some applicants have responded to job advertisements posted on Craigslist and other websites by vendors claiming to be affiliated with 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East or the 1199SEIU Training and Employment Funds, only to be asked to pay a fee for the job referral or specialized certifications that will guarantee them a job. These vendors are not affiliated with the Employment Center or the Union: Do not work with any vendor who asks for payment of any kind.
The 1199SEIU Training and Employment Funds will never charge you fees for job referrals.
The Job Security Fund’s programs provide you with the support you need if you are laid off from your job.
Peninsula Hospital Update
The collective bargaining parties (the Union and the Employers) have agreed to provide JSF benefits to the laid-off workers from Peninsula, and the details of the benefits will be described at your intake session. If you have received a layoff notice, you can either contact one of our sites listed below for an intake appointment or, if you have any questions, please call the Fund’s Peninsula Hotline at (212) 894-4389. Leave your name and contact information, and the JSF will respond to your inquiry.
We understand these are difficult times, but we are confident that we can work together to achieve the best outcomes under the circumstances.
