Descriptive Summary:
Documenting patients’ medical conditions is vital to effective medicine. This presentation will review the significance and evolution of the ICD-10-CM diagnostic manual in the healthcare industry, including the benefits of complete and accurate coding and the consequences of inaccurate coding. Changes in codes from 2024 to 2025 and updates in coding guidelines will be discussed.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participants will be able to:
- Discuss of the evolution of the ICD-10-CM and its use;
- Describe the benefits of accurate coding and consequences of inaccurate coding;
- Identify changes in ICD-10-CM coding from 2024 to 2025; and
- Recognize guideline changes relative to coding changes.

Descriptive Summary:
Being aware of new codes is imperative, with changes in the guidelines for ICD-10-CM affecting proper coding for medical practices, including reimbursements. This presentation will review new codes for 2025, as well as subcode notations required by ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT code and HCPCS updates.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participants will be able to:
- Summarize key revisions for 2025 for ICD-10-CM, ICD-PCS-10, HCPCS and CPT official coding guidelines; and
- Review ICD-10-CM modifier changes.

Training and Employment Fund Members
Members must have been a part-time or full-time employee for at least one year, work at least three-fifths of a regular workweek, and work for an employer who contributes to the 1199SEIU League Training and Upgrading Fund or the 1199SEIU Greater New York Education Fund.
City of New York Education, Child and Eldercare Fund Members
Pharmacists, Dietitians, Clinical Laboratory Practitioners and LPNs must have worked with NYC Health + Hospitals or a mayoral agency for at least one year.
