TEF Supports Member Education During Summer Break
The 1199SEIU Training and Employment Funds’ (TEF) summer academic programming supports members enrolled in semester-based education programs during breaks, ensuring students stay prepared for classroom and clinical success.
This July, members have access to academic and career support services, including online tutoring and college preparatory workshops. Skill-building resources, such as basic Spanish and English language workshops and college readiness seminars, are also available to help students stay on track between semesters.

Spanish Language Workshops by the Spanish Language Program
The Spanish Language Program provides healthcare workers with targeted Spanish instruction to improve patient communication and service. Classes are online.

Basic English Language Workshops by the ESOL Program
The English as a Second Language Program (ESOL) strengthens workplace communication and connects participants to further education, citizenship courses and healthcare career pathways. Basic English Language Workshops prepare members with beginner-level English proficiency to communicate confidently in professional and everyday settings.

College Preparatory Workshops by the Prep Academy Program
Prep Academy Program provides structured academic refreshers for members returning to school after extended gaps. The program strengthens English, math, writing and science skills, while preparing participants for the TEAS entrance exam and college-level work.
