The Child Care Funds contract with summer day camp providers in New York City and the metro area to provide eligible children with a summer camp experience for only a nominal co-payment. The Anne Shore Sleep-Away Camp Program and the Holiday Sleep-Away Programs offer children opportunities and challenges that enhance their physical, intellectual, emotional and social skills. The Anne Shore Sleep-Away Camp Program gives children ages 9 to 15 the chance to spend their summer exploring, learning and growing, all while having the time of their lives. Whether pursuing a passion, taking on new challenges or preparing for the future, campers can explore immersive experiences that foster independence, leadership and personal growth at 20+ sleep-away camps located throughout the Northeast. Level up your teen’s personal growth with a transformative experience they’ll never forget! Through engaging and enriching experiences, youth develop physical, intellectual, emotional and social skills in the Teen Holiday Sleep-Away Program.
Programming offers a wide range of age-appropriate activities designed to inspire leadership, teamwork and personal growth. Teens participate in sports and games, debate, arts, high and low ropes challenge courses, hiking, outdoor recreation and nature exploration. In a safe and enriching environment, youth build confidence, develop leadership skills, discover new interests and form meaningful friendships. Every experience is intentionally designed to help young people thrive while improving outcomes for members and their families.
Teens attend two sessions during the New York City public school’s winter and spring recesses (seven days and six nights for winter session; five days and four nights for spring session) at Hands In 4 Youth (the home of Camp Vacamas). The camp is accredited by the American Camp Association and operates in a facility with a heated living area, as well as indoor and outdoor activity spaces. To ensure that the children of members living in New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Upstate New York and Long Island have the chance to experience the joys of summer camp, we offer a Summer Day Camp Voucher. You may use the voucher only for day camps that are licensed or registered by the city, county, or state. The Youth Mentoring Program introduces high school and college-aged youth to career opportunities in the healthcare industry through summer jobs and vocational experiences. Teens are paid to work in 1199SEIU institutions where their parents are employed and also learn job skills, résumé building, art and writing. Read More »

With the need for reliable, quality childcare during February and April New York City public school holiday breaks, the Holiday Sleep-Away Program provides a welcoming and supportive program where your child can form friendships, explore new interests and grow in confidence. It’s an unforgettable adventure that inspires and empowers long after camp ends!
Programming offers a diverse mix of STEAM activities in science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics; team-building experiences; arts and crafts; sports and games; high and low ropes challenge courses; hiking; outdoor recreation; and nature exploration. Through these experiences, your child will make new friends, strengthen their confidence, develop social skills and grow personally in a safe and nurturing environment.
