WorkForce 2000 Summer Youth

In collaboration with the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD), the 1199SEIU Child Care Corporation is excited to provide a select number of paid summer employment opportunities to eligible WorkForce 2000 (WF2) participants. This experience is available through New York City’s Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) and will operate in tandem with WF2 for six weeks starting in July and ending in August.

As per the DYCD’s SYEP guidelines, WF2 students accepted into the program will be paid minimum wage. Note: This program is not the same as the 1199SEIU Youth Mentoring Program.

If a member and his or her child are eligible for the WF2 benefit, they may apply for the program at orientation based on eligibility requirements set by the DYCD.

In order to be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be 16 years old as of July of the program year
  • Reside in one of New York City’s five boroughs
  • Commit to one full year of WF2 programming – six weeks of summer programming from July through August, and Saturday academic classes from September through June
