Looking for a meaningful summer experience that helps you earn money, build your skills and explore future career opportunities? The Youth Mentoring Program (YMP) may be the perfect opportunity for you!
The YMP is offered through the 1199SEIU League Labor Management Initiatives, Inc. and administered by the 1199SEIU/Employer Child Care Corporation (CCC). For many years, the YMP has connected eligible high school students with exciting opportunities to learn about careers in healthcare while gaining valuable workplace experience.
Each summer, the YMP partners with hospitals and nursing homes throughout New York City to provide teens with a paid six-week work and professional development experience. Participants are placed in healthcare settings where they can explore career interests, gain real-world work experience and develop skills that will prepare them for college, future careers and lifelong success.
As a YMP participant, you will earn the New York City minimum wage while gaining hands-on experience and participating in engaging workshops and enrichment activities. Throughout the program, you’ll learn about healthcare careers, workplace communication, interviewing techniques, professional etiquette, leadership and portfolio development.
