Many parents need help with child care when their children are on school breaks in February, April and December. The Child Care Funds provide the child care you need with holiday camps throughout the New York metropolitan area.
The Funds provide two types of Sleep-Away Holiday Programs to accommodate both younger children and teens.
For children 8 to 13: 1199SEIU children can enjoy a week at The Fresh Air Fund’s Camp Mariah in Fishkill, New York. Its recreational and educational activities are designed to develop children’s personal growth, confidence and self-esteem. Orientation for parents of new participants is mandatory, and children are required to have up-to-date, original medical records in order to attend.
For children 14 to 17: Give your teens a week of fun and learning at Camp Vacamas in West Milford, New Jersey. The week’s activities help develop leadership and teamwork skills as well as self-reliance. To attend, teens need up-to-date, original medical records. Parents of first-time attendees must also attend a camp orientation session.
Note: The Holiday Program is scheduled according to the New York City Public School calendar.
There is a co-payment for this program based on a sliding fee scale (see below).
