If you want to complete a college degree or advance your healthcare career by going back to school, the 1199SEIU Training and Upgrading Fund (TUF) College Prep Program can help you obtain the skills you need to enter or re-enter college. It is specially designed to meet the needs of healthcare workers, particularly those who have not attended school for a significant period of time. Classes are geared toward helping members pass university entrance exams and brush up on math basics and reading and writing skills. Assessment and testing are also available to determine which classes you may need to take.
Because TUF has a close working relationship with the City University of New York (CUNY), the program’s focus is on helping members prepare for the CUNY entrance exams. However, 1199SEIU bargaining unit members and their relatives age 21 and older may participate in the College Prep Program even if they wish to attend a program outside the CUNY system.
- Must be an 1199SEIU member (or a relative, to the extent that grant money is available) age 21 or older; and
- Must submit a copy of high school diploma or high school equivalency diploma.
If you have foreign academic documents, please contact TUF’s Admissions and Counseling Office at (212) 284-9210.
