More Employers Opt for Advantages of 1199SEIU Funds Employer Services Portal
Since the enhanced 1199SEIU Employer Services Portal went live in February 2018, the percentage of contributing employers taking advantage of the service has reached nearly 70 percent. Currently, 187 employers (who employ almost 94,000 1199SEIU workers) are using the system, which has made it easier for them to report payroll data and submit contribution payments on behalf of their 1199SEIU employees. The portal also enables employers to keep their employees' eligibility information up to date and provides them with a streamlined, electronic means to perform such essential functions as:
  • Submitting payroll data;
  • Calculating payments based on that data;
  • Recording employee status changes, including paid and unpaid leaves; and
  • Making electronic contributions monthly.
To learn more about the portal or to sign up for a training session, please call the 1199SEIU Funds Employer Services Unit at (646) 473-6413 or email
Training and Employment Funds Issue Employer Survey
The 1199SEIU Training and Employment Funds (TEF) have developed a five-year strategic plan to help meet the needs of nursing homes and long-term-care facilities, and to provide quality education and training opportunities for healthcare workers. As part of this process, TEF is asking contributing employers to take a 15-minute survey about their workforce development needs.

The data will help TEF:
  • Better allocate resources to training and career pathways;
  • Identify potential funding sources; and
  • Work with post-secondary institutions and outside vendors to develop degree and training programs that respond to industry needs.
Please note: Employers' individual responses will be kept confidential.

Annual FALC Fair Highlights the Journey to Healthy Living and a Clean Environment
The 1199SEIU/Employer Child Care Corporation's Future of America Learning Center (FALC) held its 22nd annual Science Fair on Saturday, March 23. This year's fair focused on issues facing the Bronx, including the impact of waste on communities in the borough; the history and recovery of the Hudson River; and ways to creatively reduce, reuse and recycle waste products. Students also engaged in health-related activities, such as running an obstacle course and doing yoga moves to demonstrate how exercise can help combat obesity, learning about the food groups and making nutritious snacks. Parents and community members who attended had an opportunity to ask the children about their projects, including one on the efficiency of solar-powered vehicles.
