1199SEIU Child Care Funds
Rossmery Dais is the Executive Director of the 1199SEIU Child Care Funds (CCF) and the President of the 1199SEIU Child Care Corporation (CCC), the Funds’ 501(C)(3) nonprofit subsidiary and one of the nation’s premier labor-management partnerships supporting working families. CCF and CCC are dedicated to helping 1199SEIU members, their families and their communities access quality, affordable child-care and educational programs, as well as cultural arts programs, holiday and summer camps, SAT prep courses, college/workforce preparation and college scholarships. Partnering with some 500 participating employers, CCF and CCC have served more than 400,000 children since their inception. For nearly 20 years, Ms. Dais has been empowering children and families through her work in the nonprofit world.
Since 2008, Ms. Dais has held various positions at CCF and CCC, most recently as the Deputy Executive Director, supporting the Executive Director/President; served as Co-Director of the 1199SEIU/City of New York Education, Child and Eldercare Fund; oversaw all the benefit budgets and programs/services provided to over 20,000 families annually; as well as strategized for the diversification of program options and service delivery improvement. She also previously served as Director of Programs, Chief of Staff, Manager of the Program Development Division, Senior Coordinator for Program Development and Special Projects, and Coordinator for Program Development—wherein she shepherded the organization’s mission through administrative and programmatic oversight, evaluation, development, management and more.
Prior to joining CCF and CCC, Ms. Dais served as Program Director for the Manhattan-Staten Island Area Health Education Center (MSIAHEC), helping to diversify the healthcare workforce through collaboration with schools, local elected officials, community-based organizations and healthcare institutions to create and execute health career-exploration programs for middle school, high school and professional healthcare school students Ms. Dais also helped Bronx residents build stronger families as a Family Counselor at Highbridge Community Life Center, where she provided casework, advocacy and counseling to many families, with the goal of foster care prevention. She has served as an advisory board member of various nonprofits and currently sits on the Executive Committee of her local community board and chairs its Municipal Services Committee.
Ms. Dais holds a Master’s in Public Administration from New York University and a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Gerontology Concentration from Cornell University. She is the proud mother of two young sons and lives with them and her husband in New York City.
