Telehealth Options to Help You Through the COVID-19 Crisis

If you are a National Benefit Fund, Greater New York Benefit Fund or Home Care Benefit Fund member who receives health coverage through your Benefit Fund and you need medical or mental-health care, you now have more options to access telehealth services. In addition to Teladoc, you may now schedule a virtual visit with any hospital or provider in our 1199SEIU Benefit Fund network during the COVID-19 crisis. We’ve got you covered!

Create Your Teladoc Account Today: Save Wait Time

Now more than ever, Teladoc can help if you think you have symptoms of the coronavirus (COVID-19) such as fever, coughing, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, sore throat, headache, or loss of sense of taste or smell, or if you need emotional support, so set up your account today. Even if you are feeling well, set up your Teladoc account as soon as possible -- they cannot help you until you have set up an account. Just go to Teladoc and get started. Provide the requested information, then go to the “My Medical History” tab and follow the prompts to finish setting up your account. Keep in mind that wait times may be longer at this time.

Here's what to expect when calling Teladoc:

IF you have fever and/or respiratory symptoms, a doctor will ask you about your symptoms, travel history and contact history.

IF the doctor suspects COVID-19, he/she will connect you with the city or state health department for diagnostic testing, and they will advise you of any quarantine requirements, and notify your primary care physician.

IF your symptoms are mild, the doctor will give you information to help ease your symptoms—addressing both your physical and mental health.

IF your symptoms are severe and you need in-person medical attention, the doctor will connect you with resources, and advise you to “let them know before you go,” to minimize exposure to others. If you are unable to do this on your own, Teladoc will call ahead for you.
