Community Resources
New York City
NYC WELL, (888) NYC-WELL (692-9355) or (800) 985-5990: NYC WELL has trained counselors who will provide brief support, talk therapy and crisis counseling in multiple languages for anyone experiencing distress or other mental health issues. If the issues you need to discuss are more severe, they will provide coping information and referrals to other resources for follow-up care and additional support.
NAMI-NYC, (212) 684-3264: This confidential community health helpline of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is staffed Monday through Friday, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, for those in need. Calls are answered by trained professionals. NAMI-NYC also has a weekly wellness chat group, at www.naminycmetro.org.
New York State
New York State Office of Mental Health Emotional Support Helpline, (844) 863-9314: Call for free and confidential support. The line is staffed by volunteers, including mental health professionals, who have received training in crisis counseling.
NAMI-NYS, (518) 248-7634: This temporary helpline is available from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm, seven days a week, and offers confidential support for those experiencing stress, anxiety and depression brought on by the COVID-19 emergency.
