Being an 1199er comes with benefits!

Flu Shot and COVID-19 Booster As a home care worker, you help keep others healthy. But you’re also at increased risk of catching the flu and COVID-19—and spreading it to others. So, if you haven’t done it yet, get protected with this plan.

As an 1199SEIU Home Care member, you are part of a community that cares about you. And not just when people are cheering for you and calling you a hero. You are always a hero to us. But you’re more than that—you are an important part of the 1199 family. That’s why we’re working overtime to make sure we bring you the best coverage we can or help you access quality coverage.

If you receive health coverage through Healthfirst, you will still have a dedicated team of Outreach Coordinators who will be there to help you.

Since its inception, the Home Care Benefit Fund (HCBF) has found creative ways to continue to fund benefits for home care workers. Recently, you were asked to complete a brief household income survey.

We asked you to do this because of new eligibility requirements. The information we gathered in this survey is necessary to ensure your access to quality health coverage either through the HCBF, our partners at Healthfirst or other plans through the BeneStream benefit.

If you are qualified for the Healthfirst Essential Plan, you will receive a letter asking you to schedule an appointment to enroll. If you receive health coverage through Healthfirst, you will still have a dedicated team of Outreach Coordinators who will be there to help you.

But regardless of which health plan you are eligible for, as an 1199SEIU Home Care member, you still have your $20,000 Life Insurance Benefit when you meet the minimum hours requirement, and you continue to have access to a wide range of valuable Benefit Fund benefits. Those programs include Wellness Member Assistance, Citizenship, Teladoc 24/7, WeightWatchers, Legal Clinics and Financial Wellness.

Our Benefit Fund’s Outreach Coordinators and Member Services Representatives are standing by to offer assistance and answer questions.
