Message from Donna Rey, Executive Director

Dear Retired Members,
As we head toward the end of 2026 and enter the holiday season, I’ve been thinking about what this time of year means to me—family, gratitude, reflection and hope for the year ahead. It is also a time when I find myself especially grateful for you, our retired members, and for the dedication, compassion and hard work you gave throughout your years of service.
The care you’ve given, and continue to give, to our communities is a legacy that serves as the foundation of our 1199 family. I hope this season brings you the opportunity to spend time with the people you love, enjoy traditions that bring you joy and take a little time for yourself, too.
I also want to remind you how important it is to care for your own health and well-being. Progress on your health journey doesn’t have to happen all at once. Often, it begins quietly—by eating nourishing foods, getting enough rest, moving your body more, managing stress and staying connected to people who make you happy.
Your Benefit Funds are here to support your journey. I encourage you to check out the many resources provided by the Retired Members Department. Chapter meetings, online and in-person classes, and the Seniors Out Speaking (SOS) meetings are wonderful ways to stay active, informed and connected to your retiree community. To learn more, visit the Retiree Activities page.
The Healthy Living Resource Center is also available to provide information and practical tools you can use at your convenience. Visit the Healthy Living Resource Center to explore what’s available.
And don’t forget to tune in to our Health Is the Key podcast, where our host talks with industry experts and special guests—like celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson, who joined us this month for a special video episode. You can listen at Health Is the Key or wherever you get your podcasts.
As we celebrate the holidays and look toward a new year, I wish you and your loved ones a warm and joyful holiday season and a healthy, peaceful new year.
In good health,
Donna Rey, EdD
Estimados miembros jubilados:
