Notice About 1199SEIU Benefit Funds’ Participation in Health Information Exchange Operated by Healthix
We want to notify you that the 1199SEIU Benefit Funds participate in a health information exchange operated by Healthix, a not-for-profit organization that shares information about people’s health electronically with healthcare providers and meets the privacy and security standards of HIPAA and New York State Law.
As part of our participation in Healthix, we electronically send/upload Protected Health Information from Benefit Fund members to Healthix. Member information in Healthix comes from places that have provided medical care or through health insurance (claims) information. These data sources may include hospitals, physicians, pharmacies, clinical laboratories, health insurers, the Medicaid program and other organizations that exchange health information electronically. An updated list of these data sources is available from Healthix. Members can obtain an updated list at any time by visiting www.healthix.org or by calling 1-(877) 695-4749.
It is important for you to know that Healthix is not authorized to share your information unless you grant permission for them to do so.
