    About the Program

The Anne Shore Sleep-Away Camp Program offers 9- to 15-year-old children a wide range of summer sleep-away camps throughout the Northeast. The 1199SEIU/Employer Child Care Corporation administers the program, enabling parents to select the best camp experience for their child. Diverse offerings include camps that emphasize athletics, fine arts, technology and outdoor adventure, as well as traditional camp experiences that provide a wide variety of activities. All participating camps are independently owned and operated and are accredited by the American Camp Association. Camps for children with special needs are also available.

Find out more about the process of applying for the program and attending camp.

Sleep-away camp can be an intimidating transition for both parents and children. For many families, it’s the first time children are away from home. Camp gives children the opportunity to enhance their physical, intellectual, emotional and social skills. In turn, these skills help promote independence and self-confidence. The Anne Shore Sleep-Away Camp Program provides informational resources for parents, such as a Guide to Handling Homesickness, to aid in the transition.

Additionally, Anne Shore’s Camp Fair, hosted each fall, and Online Parent Seminar, hosted each winter, educate families about the various camp program options. At the Camp Fair and Online Parent Seminar, parents can have their questions answered directly by representatives from the camp providers or the American Camp Association, as well as Anne Shore Program staff. These events allow families to gain a better understanding of the unique summer experience that camp offers.

FALC Silver Anniversary: Investing in Our Future, One Child at a Time

This year, the Child Care Corporation is celebrating 25 years of the Future of America Learning Center (FALC). Since the day it opened on October 3, 1993, FALC has provided nearly 9,000 children of 1199SEIU members and the community with the opportunity to build and enhance their physical, emotional, cognitive and cultural growth. Our program serves children ages 18 months to 5 years, culminating in a Universal Pre-K ceremony each year. This summer, we celebrated 46 students graduating from the program. The ceremony was complete with song and dance performances, well wishes from instructors and heartfelt testimonials from parents about FALC’s nurturing environment.

FALC also holds other events throughout the year, including an annual Father’s Day breakfast, community outreach activities and educational field trips to museums around New York City. The annual FALC Science Fair is an exciting opportunity for students to take part in science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) projects. Students are able to learn the value of science while expressing their creativity among peers, teachers and family.

  • FALC Events

The Child Care Corporation sponsors a variety of events and activities that support the focus on family and community. The Corporation actively collaborates with community partners to promote educational, social, and healthy development of our families.
